The classrooms in SSLA aren’t merely spaces where there professors attempt to transfer information to students, but these are spaces that are constructed to foster an exchange of ideas; spaces where students are encouraged to question existing theories and norms and are pushed to form their opinions. Equipped with state of the art technology, these classrooms facilitate multimedia learning, thereby allowing for a creative process of learning and exchange.
The whirring of the machines with enough PC’s to harbour the passion of programmers, engineers, technology enthusiasts and researchers, the air-conditioned computer lab provides a space for technology learning. Students in their free time come and make use of the PCs in order to research, prepare for presentations or study.
Wi-Fi & Reprography Centre
Here at SSLA, students have access to WiFi internet throughout the core campus, located on the 3rd floor of the New Viman Nagar Campus Building. They are each provided with a unique username and password which is used to access the internet. This facility can be used for various academic purposes, including research and communication.
The Ground Floor of the New Viman Nagar Campus Building is home to a print, stationery and photocopy shop, which the students have direct access to.
Dreams are what talents make and dance is a cultivated passion for many. Dance is one of the most encouraged activities in college, and therefore the students have been provided with a dance studio. The front wall is lined with mirrors that help with coordination and practise. The floor is wooden to aid flexibility and smoothness. There is a facility of speakers that amplify the music to reverberate all around the room. The room is quite large and has windows to help with ventilation. It is a positive environment that nurtures an individual to grow in terms of performance.
Being students of a Symbiosis University, students of SSLA have access to the libraries of all Symbiosis Institutes in addition to SSLA’s own organically growing collection. The students are in possession of ID cards that enable them to access and acquire material and facilities from the libraries, any time. Symbiosis unites eclectic disciplines with its many colleges, and this ensures that the books available to the students are vast in number and scope.
Apart from the Symbiosis Library facilities itself, students at SSLA have institutional access to the libraries of the British Council in Pune and also Gokhale Institute of Economics & Politics. This disciplinary homogeneity enhances the liberal arts experiences by offering exposure to a wide range of knowledge resources.
One of the defining venues of the campus is Symbieat, the canteen. The canteen within the campus serves a variety of snacks, drink, and meals. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. The range of cuisines is wide and the seating area is spacious. Students can get lunch, dinner and everything in between. The usual Indian culinary favorites are of course supplemented with some extremely popular Chinese food. Whether you're looking for a cup of coffee, a simple sandwich, or a complete meal, you don't have to leave campus. You enter the most colourful place in college and are greeted by the friendliest humans behind the counter, which makes spending time in the canteen even more fun. It’s a hub of gossip and chilling with your friends while eating food between classes. The place strives to be healthy and avoids junk food as much as possible. There are a variety of juice choices to pick from as well.
From spoken word poetry performances to photography exhibitions to intense study sessions during the final evaluations, the common space is always buzzing with students. Ideas that are worked on within small student groups and classrooms are presented before the student body in the common space.
The campus has a fully equipped gym in addition to other sporting grounds and additional facilities. The gym has a large number of facilities for those who are conscious about their health. The gym primarily has facilities such as a free weights area, different exercise machines, and a cardio theatre with a whole set of treadmills and stationary bikes.
The gym employs personal trainers who are accessible to members for training/fitness/nutrition/health advice and consultation and etc. Personal trainers can devise a customized fitness routine, which categorically includes a nutrition plan to help health aspirants achieve their devised goals. They can also monitor and train members. Access to personal trainers involves an hourly additional charge.
The Symbiosis Society is committed to healthcare facilities and support. Each Symbiosis Campus is equipped with a functioning health center. In case of emergencies, medical and if required, financial support is available for each student. At least one doctor is present on campus 24x7. Additionally, each student is provided with medical insurance. For more details about the medical insurance, click on the link provided.
