The Liberal Arts programme at SSLA aims at the holistic development of a student with an equal emphasis on both theory and practice. Problem solving, adaptability, effective communication and multitasking are skills that are essential for the practical world and given the diverse interdisciplinary nature of the programme, the student becomes eligible for almost any career field.

The Career Cell at SSLA helps bridge the gap between interested companies looking for potential talent and students willing to take the first step of their career-ladders. The Cell is constituted by the Director and two permanent faculty members, along with three representatives of the student body. The students get access to the various sectors of the industry as both internship and placement opportunities.

An internship is a necessary component as SSLA believes that an early exposure to work environments is important for the overall growth of the student. Parallelly, SSLA also promotes work at NGOs to facilitate the development of socially conscious students. SSLA does not act as a placement agency. However, the team interacts and establishes connections with various industry participants to help the students pick the right job at the end of their four year programme. We also hold interactive sessions with our students to brief them about the functioning of various companies and NGOs to facilitate a better understanding of the job market, its requirements and the opportunities available.

Picking a major and minor is one of the most imperative and perplexing tasks considering the myriad options available to our students. To help the students make well-informed decisions, SSLA offers Major and Minor Counselling Sessions. Regular workshops, guest lectures and interactions with experts are organised in the second semester of every year to acquaint students with various opportunities the majors and minor can potentially offer.

It is our earnest endeavour to facilitate a smooth transfer from the life of a student to that of a working professional in the student’s chosen field of specialization. SSLA prepares its students for a kick start in their career, equipped with a solid foundational ground that one needs, to thrive in today’s world.
